This is the busiest time of rice planting. We got up at 4 am to check the water level of rice field!

We plant these rice seedling after rice field is evened out.

Operating this rice planting machine straight is not very easy. I learned how to cook Hittsumi (traditional dumpling with soup) also!

Rice planting will be done by the end of May, however there are so many works to be done before harvested. By learning this hard work, I can appreciate what I eat even more.

My colleagues with SL Ginga hat on

Taiko performance

Shimogo Sansa Odori dancers

On April 29th, Sat, there was Ginga (Galaxy) station opening ceremony at mm1, which is roadside station combined with shopping store. It started with taiko performance by local young group and attracted many visitors. SL Ginga hat which my colleague made is in front of farmer's store in mm1, so why don't you visit the shop and take picture with this cool hat?

At Miyamori station, I welcomed "SL Ginga" (steam locomotive) with local ladies' country dance group named Forever petit angels. There also was Shimogo Sansa Odori (one of traditional sansa dancing group in Tono, which is 68 years old!) with colorful costumes. SL Ginga operates between Hanamaki and Kamaishi station almost every weekend until September. Do not miss this chance to experience great journey!

Wedding ceremony was held for the first time in 45 years!

Next Commonsについて:

On April 23rd, wedding ceremony was held for the first time in 45 years in Komedori- district in Tsuchibuchi-cho.

This is marginal area with the population of 21 whose average age is 71 years old. However, people who are living here are very energetic and warm hearted. They seemed to enjoy the preparation with bride and groom, and people from Next Commons which both of them belong to.

It started with processional march with local lead singer at the front, then Shinto-style wedding ceremony, scattering rice cakes, and reception with singing and dancing. Along with Bento-style meal, local hand made stew was prepared and that  was very good. Also, hikidemono (wedding gift given to attendees) was from groom's parent's caterer in Niigata which was also delicious.

I can't imagine how much work they had to do to create their own wedding party, but I think this project was incredible. I am quite sure there would be more people who would like to make original wedding like they did!
